Description

eCLOSE: Intro to Research

In eCLOSE: Intro to Research , student scientists will learn techniques and protocols to examine how nutrients can affect the development of The Fruit Fly. They will complete more advanced techniques like solution-making and micropipetting! Participants will put hand-eye skills to the test as they move fruit flies to nap vials and learn how to put them to sleep for sorting.

Work at the eCLOSE Institute and use all of the equipment needed to complete the nutritional supplement experiment. Bring your laptop so you can take live images of YOUR experiment!

On the final session, we will host a presentation event for you to share your findings!

This is a HYBRID Session to welcome students scientists into the eCLOSE Lab and enable others to Zoom in. Collaboration will occur in live-time!

Please be sure to select the correct option. Scientists will be grouped into peer lab groups.

School District of Philadelphia students: qualify for sponsored scholarships! CODE: KEEPFLYING

This session (live/zoom) serves as the pre-requisite for a winter/spring Saturday session where you would work in a specialty, building on the skills covered this week!

8th--> 10th can use this as a pre-requisite to the subsequent specialty session (biochemistry or behavioral research)
11th--> UG can use this as a pre-requisite to the subsequent undergraduate bridge independent research session

BOTH follow-up sessions will also be 100% sponsored for Philadelphia students.
