eCLOSE Institute isn't just a place, it's a concept.
eCLOSE participants, scientists,
and science teachers link ideas and experiments to drive research
forward. Become a part of a powerful network that provides mentoring,
leadership skills, teaching experience, workforce development, and support
throughout your STEM career trajectory.
eCLOSE Institute programs are designed to bring the lab to the learners! Launching in 2020 at the high of the pandemic, eCLOSE developed virtual-hybrid research programs for use in labs at home and the classroom. Now you can join the eCLOSE Team in their lab! The benches are waiting!
eCLOSE has developed
programs for students through adult learners that engage their inner scientists.
Participants learn common laboratory techniques and complete hand’s on
activities to guide learning. We put the tools into your hands as you go
step-by-step through your own research project. As you work with your lab partners, in person or via Zoom, you will learn the power of collaboration.
eCLOSE Institute works
with an amazing model organism: The Fruit Fly! Session participants will learn
why this small insect is important in research and how it can be used to
address questions about diseases, like cancer and diabetes, and mental health disorders. Our camp programs will examine
how diet impacts the various stages of fruit fly development and then analyze
their very own data! eCLOSE participants will present their data and
conclusions, to family, friends, & the eCLOSE community at an end-of-week event! Camp@Lab will offer live and Zoom options for presentation day!
All of the eCLOSE programs provide learners with the opportunity. eCLOSE @Home
participants keep ALL of the equipment for future use in professional or
academic settings. eCLOSE@Lab participants will receive a mini lab box and use real-time lab equipment!
